During the holidays there are children who are placed in foster care without family and friends. We have asked the kids what they want for Christmas and many of the older children have asked for Target gift certificate card (any amount) and the little ones have asked for stuffed animals (please bring new unwrapped, no used toys accepted). Please bring a gift to our December meeting and share your blessings with children who are less fortunate.

CASA serves children who, for their own protection, have been removed from their homes and placed in foster care. Judges refer the most serious cases of child abuse and neglect to CASA so that one volunteer can consistently spend time with one child, building a relationship and ensuring that each child is receiving the support and attention he or she needs and deserves while going through the foster care process.

Last year’s event raised more than $83,000 allowing the LFA to provide education and support services to people living with lupus, and support much needed lupus research. Lupus is an acute and chronic (lifelong) autoimmune disease in which the immune system is unbalanced, causing inflammation and tissue damage to virtually every organ system in the body. It affects an estimated 1.5 million Americans and approximately 182,000 in California alone!

NIAS is hosting the 6th Volleyball Tournament and Picnic on October  10th!  Each year we gather several hundred people to participate in this fun-filled day, which enables us to raise money to donate to individuals living in shelters.  Mark your calendar, gather your team, and bring your family and friends to cheer you on! Give back to your community by having a good time on the volleyball field!

If you don’t want to play that’s ok! You can cheer your favorite team and enjoy the picnic and games we have set up for you!

Tournament Date: Sunday, October 10th

Registration Deadline: October 1st

Location:  Mason Park, Irvine

Registration Cost (if payment and registration submitted by October 1st):

• $240 for a team up to 6 players, $40 each additional player - Cost after deadline: $300
• $40 per person - Cost after deadline: $50
